SHEFFIELD Hand Painted Enamel Hunter Case Watch Pendant, Watch Necklace, Watch Pendant, Mechanical Wind Up Watch, Vintage Watch Pendant

This is a lovely Hand Painted Enamel Pendant Watch that was put out by the Sheffield Company in Circa 1960’s. This watch has a Hunter Watch case that has enameling and a floral hand painted design on the front and back of the watch. The design is a purple pansy flower with green leaves… very sweet!! Inside, you will find a beautiful gold faced watch with black roman numerals and black decorative hands. The crown at the top is where you will be able to set the watch and wind it. It pops out and snaps in perfectly. An 18 Inch Gold Plated Chain is being provided so that it will be in ready-to-wear condition. The Hunter Case is hinged at the bottom and pops open nicely.

• Size of the watch case is 1 ¼ inches and 1 ¾ inches when measured up to the bail
• This is a Wind-Up Mechanical Pendant Watch
• Condition is Excellent – no known issues; it has a nice tick-tick and keeps time well
• Hallmarks are found on the face of the watch and at the bottom of the face – “SHEFFIELD” and “SWISS MADE”
Sheffield Watch S.A. set up its headquarters in Muttenz, Switzerland. The company was registered there on September 1, 1960. Sheffield Watch Inc. entered the USA later in 1967 selling in high-end stores under that name. With distributors selling to the main chains under "Sheraton" and "Norbee" branding. They were the largest importer of Roskopf movements, wristwatches and Swiss pin levers. Imports of this type of watch accounted for 70 per cent of the turnover of the company. The SSIH (Swiss Society for the Watch Industry) became majority shareholders in 1971. At that time SSIH were the third-largest watchmaker in the world behind Timex in the USA and Seiko in Japan. Millions of dollars were spent in advertising the virtues of the Sheffield brand but unfortunately, by the end of April 1972, they had closed their factory doors for good, with a huge loss of 32 million Swiss francs.
